Swinburne welcomes state civil servants to postgraduate course, empowering excellence

KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus recently hosted an engaging orientation event for state civil servants who have enrolled in the October 2023 intake of the Master of Business Administration (International) course.

The state civil servants’ enrolment in the postgraduate program signifies the proactive approach taken by the Sarawak state government to enhance workforce productivity and facilitate economic progress through education and human capital development.

This endeavour aligns with the objectives outlined in the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which intends to empower the people of Sarawak with the necessary skills to access higher-paying job opportunities and boost their income levels.

The Master of Business Administration (International) course under Swinburne Sarawak’s School of Business is tailor-made for adult learners, particularly those actively employed. It presents a unique opportunity for individuals from various professional backgrounds to enhance their capabilities in navigating the unpredictable, ever-changing and often turbulent business environments where their respective organisations function.

From the teaching and learning perspectives, the Master of Business Administration (International) employs a variety of teaching and learning approaches to guide, support and empower students, enabling them to confidently and competently face the challenges of the evolving workplace and the dynamic business landscape.

The academic team is highly effective in fostering teaching, research and industry engagement in the university. They are experts in multiple disciplines and have been heavily involved in consultancy projects with stakeholders and the community.

To further enhance the dedicated adult learner experience, the university’s School of Business offers interactive classrooms, research and analytical labs as well as the Master of Business Administration lounge to facilitate learning. The school is also expected to have an entrepreneurship hub and stock exchange simulation lab ready by the second half of 2024 to support learners throughout their learning process.

As the new cohort of state civil servants joins the Master of Business Administration (International) course, Swinburne Sarawak’s School of Business aims to broaden pathways and cultivate collaborations that prioritise educational excellence with the government, industry and local community.
