Swinburne Sarawak holds Open Day in Sibu this Saturday

KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus, which is now accepting applications for its foundation and degree programs, will hold an Open Day at RH Hotel in Sibu on Saturday (5 March).

SPM, STPM and UEC school leavers in the area will have a chance to find out more about pursuing higher education at the Australian branch campus, from 10am to 5pm.

Parents and their university-going children will be able to learn about the courses as well as scholarships available at the campus.

They will be able to speak to Swinburne Sarawak teaching staff during course counselling sessions and look into accommodation options.

A public talk on engineering as well as a design demonstration will take place from 2:30pm to 3:30pm.

Foundation studies at Swinburne Sarawak will start on 28 March, while the university is still accepting applications for degree courses.

Swinburne Sarawak offers four foundation courses: business, design, IT/multimedia, and engineering/science. These one-year courses prepare SPM school leavers for the degree courses they will undertake.

Those who enroll on the upcoming foundation intake could continue on to degree early next year.

Its degree courses are in the field of business, computing, design, engineering and biotechnology, which may be completed entirely at Swinburne Sarawak.

Students could also choose to complete these courses at the university’s campus in Melbourne, or study a semester in Australia as an exchange student while on Swinburne Sarawak tuition fee.

Those interested to apply for courses are requested to bring along the original examination result slip and their identity card. Application fee will be waived for applications received during the event.

Newly enrolled students of Swinburne Sarawak may be eligible for a range of financial aid schemes that are based on academic and extra-curricular achievements. Information on this as well as study loans can be obtained at the event.

Swinburne Sarawak, set up in Kuching since 2000, offers the same courses as its home campus in Melbourne. Its graduates are awarded the same internationally recognized parchment.

In the past couple of years, more than 90 per cent of its graduates have been absorbed by industry within six months of graduating.
