Swinburne Sarawak’s final-year Design students showcase creative works at GradX

KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ School of Design and Arts marked another significant milestone as its final-year students from Multimedia Design, Graphic Design and Management and Digital Media joined forces to showcase their creative works at GradX on 15 December 2023.

GradX, short for ‘Graduate Final Year Exhibition’, serves as a dynamic launching pad for graduating students, providing a platform to unveil their remarkable accomplishments and nurture their professional growth. Through the presentation of industry-standard projects and exceptional talents, their aim is not only to captivate potential employers but also to engage the broader community in the diverse and innovative world of design.

The exhibition showcased a spectrum of projects, including interactives, animations, illustrations and imaginative concepts meticulously created and conceptualised by students specialising in Multimedia Design as well as Management and Digital Media.

Meanwhile, the Graphic Design students crafted compelling visual communication pieces, ranging from branding concepts to impactful campaigns. Their creative endeavours transcended conventional boundaries, capturing attention and leaving a lasting impression on various facets of visual communication.

Students enrolled in the Diploma of Digital Media Design also presented their semester projects, featuring stop-motion videos and various printed items, including sleeve and postcard designs. In addition to the Diploma students, the degree students in Design exhibited their diligent efforts, showcasing projects such as packaging designs and booklets.

“I would like to extend my thanks to our industry collaborators and clients for giving our students the chance to engage in their capstone projects and for offering valuable feedback throughout the semester. I would also like to commend the efforts of the GradX co-chairs, the students of GradX and our dedicated lecturers who have worked tirelessly to organise this exhibition,” said Associate Professor Hugh John Leong, Head of School of Design and Arts at Swinburne Sarawak.
