Swinburne Sarawak to hold Open Day events in Sibu and Miri this weekend

KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ Open Day events in Sibu and Miri this weekend are prime opportunities for students to learn more about the university’s September intake and catch informative talks on financial assistance delivered by Yayasan Sarawak.

The Open Day in Sibu will be held at RH Hotel on 12 August 2023 followed by the Open Day in Miri at Pullman Miri Waterfront on 13 August 2023. Both events will take place from 10am to 4pm and are open to all members of the public.

Swinburne Sarawak’s September intake for its foundation, diploma and degree programs is a great option for students to commence their studies now instead of waiting for the university’s 2024 intakes. It is also a good opportunity for students who have already started their tertiary studies at another university but wish to switch to Swinburne.

At both Open Day events, representatives from Yayasan Sarawak will be delivering talks on scholarships and study loans at 11am and 2pm. They will also be available to provide one-on-one guidance on financial assistance and study loan applications.

Students and parents are encouraged to visit either of the Open Days to discover all that Swinburne Sarawak has to offer. Students can get personalised education consultations to explore the wide array of courses offered by the university in various disciplines, ranging from business to computing, design, engineering, quantity surveying, science, arts, media and education.

Visitors will also be able to enquire about the university’s newly introduced courses, including the Diploma of Digital Media Design, Diploma of Information Technology, Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Diploma of Quantity Surveying.

Students can take a career personality test to gain further insight on programs that are aligned with their aspirations, interests and strengths.

Besides courses, prospective students can find out more about scholarships, bursaries and financial assistance. Top-performing Malaysian students who enrol in an undergraduate program could even be awarded the Pro-Chancellor Excellence Scholarship, which provides a 100% fee waiver.

In collaboration with Yayasan Sarawak, Swinburne Sarawak also offers the Yayasan Sarawak BP40 Bursary Scheme. This special bursary scheme for eligible Sarawakian Bumiputera students allows them to further their studies at foundation, diploma or degree levels with subsidised tuition fees. Students under the BP40 scheme can enjoy significantly reduced tuition fees over the entire duration of their academic program at Swinburne Sarawak – comparable to those at any public universities (IPTA) in Malaysia.

Once students have decided to enrol in a program, they will receive one-on-one guidance on the application process. Eligible students applying on the spot at either of the Open Days will receive a Letter of Eligibility and a Foodpanda voucher. To facilitate the application process, students are advised to bring along a copy of their Malaysian identification card or certified copy of their passport, as well as academic transcripts and certificates (SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Level, A-Level and so on).

Those who plan to join Swinburne Sarawak’s Open Day events are encouraged to visit https://swinburne.edu.my/openday/ to register their interest. Visitors to both Open Day events will stand a chance to win lucky draw prizes.
