Education Research Cluster – Immersive Media and Creative Design

The Immersive Media and Creative Design cluster is a multidisciplinary research team consisting of 10 creative researchers and practitioners. Throughout the years, the cluster has been working with prominent partners including Microsoft Malaysia, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS), Sarawak Media Group (SMG) and Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB).

The cluster is aligned with Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy 2018 – 2022, Action 28: Arts and Culture that looks at preserving the value of our heritage and culture physically and digitally. The various works that we did in the past and future initiatives also contribute to Action 29: Social as we help communities to accelerate their social development support through the use of immersive media and technologies. The launch of The Hive will continue the cluster’s trajectory to facilitate innovation and collaboration between the universities, private and government sectors, and local communities. This initiative will allow various stakeholders to co-create creative outcomes by building upon the State’s arts, culture and heritage while improving equity, capacity and capability of our human capital through the Sarawak Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030.
