SLVP organised its first ‘English Conversation Tutoring Program’ last month. Ten (10) student volunteers were selected to participate in the program as English tutors. They all underwent an interview session before they were deemed eligible. The program involved primary school age students from SK Biawak, Lundu. English is not their main language and this program enabled them to practice conversing in English. The objective of the program was to engage and tutor the kids on English in a fun and effective way.

About 43 primary school students joined in the tutoring program. They were divided into groups by their age and each group was assigned a tutor/mentor. Activities during the day include ice breaking, simple English exercise worksheets, singing/action games, Chinese whispers and sentence dictation.

We received much positive feedback from the student volunteers as well as the primary school students and their parents regarding the event.
