The Swinburne Emerging Leader Award is an annual programme designed to recognise and support the university’s most outstanding students.
The award is open to students from all academic disciplines who have demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities and a commitment to making a positive impact on their community.
The Swinburne Emerging Leader Award is a program that selects recipients through a rigorous application process evaluating theiracademic achievements, leadership experience, and personal qualities.
The program provides recipients with mentorship, leadership development, and opportunities to network with industry experts.Recipients are also honored annually for their accomplishments during an awards ceremony. The goal of the award is to help recipients develop their leadership potential and become positive change agents in their communities and beyond.
A current student that is undergoing the below program(s):
You may start your application process in any time during your course in Swinburne. However, your award will only be received after your final semester of your degree or before graduation. For example, if you start your application process in Foundation, you will only get to receive it upon your degree completion.
To achieve Emerging Leader status in the Swinburne Emerging Leader Award, it is required to fulfill four out of the eight categories, with Career Development being one of them. Additionally, you need to demonstrate six out of the ten employability skills. STAR Reflection
After finishing the leadership activities for a category, reflect on the skills you have demonstrated and think of examples that could impress a future employer. Select one or more skills from the list provided and use the STAR format (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to write your reflection.
Your reflection should be between 200 to 300 words long, include an instance where you improved and demonstrated your skills while doing the activities, and explain how you can apply your learnings in the future.
Additionally, you must provide a 50-word summary in a format that can be added to your resume.

Apply Through The SELA Portal
The portal allows you to submit your supporting documents, review and keep track of your application status. For Swinburne Sarawak students, we use a different portal than Swinburne Melbourne. Please register from the card in the website like shown below.
