The Copyright Act 1987 provides copyright protection in Malaysia. This Act serves as the principal legislation overseeing copyright protection in Malaysia, outlining the duties and rights of creators and copyright holders and the various legal options in the event of a copyright infringement. The establishment and administration of Malaysia’s intellectual property rights (IPR) framework, which includes industrial property (such as patents, trademarks, industrial designs, and integrated circuit layout designs), as well as copyright and related rights, is overseen by the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO).
