The Bachelor of Business / Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology program equips students with the knowledge, skills essential for a career that encompasses the challenging and dynamic area of information, communication and technology and business sectors. By undertaking this double degree, graduates will be able to capitalise on opportunities in both the information and communication technology and business professions.

Course objectives

Upon successfully completing the Bachelor of Business / Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology students will be able to:

  • Define and integrate theoretical principles applicable to business and apply those principles in a range of practices
  • Systematically review and critically evaluate research from a variety of sources in order to make informed judgements on options for innovatively solving a range of problems that arise in business contexts
  • Formulate creative solutions that are fit for purpose and demonstrate cognisance of the impact of business decisions on the environment, economy and society
  • Coherently articulate a line of reasoning demonstrating cultural sensitivity and apply a framework to analyse and offer solutions to ethical dilemmas
  • Communicate a range of business arguments by evaluating and implementing alternative communication strategies as appropriate to the audience
  • Build on and continuously develop the intellectual independence to be critical and reflective learners, cognisant of new technologies
  • Work collaboratively in groups

Course structure

For the completion of the Bachelor of Business / Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology, students are required to complete a total of 32 units (400 credit points) consisting of:

  • 8 Business core units of study (100 credit points)
  • 8 Information and Communication Technology core unit of study (100 credit points)
  • 8 unit of study from a Business major: Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management, International Business, Management, or Marketing (100 Credit Points)
  • 8 units of study from a Information and Communication Technology major: Software Technology or Network Technology (100 Credit Points)

Completing the Accounting major as part of Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology does not provide maximum exemptions from ACCA or other professional accounting bodies.
